I am looking for efficient ways to increase the number of customers. I also want my business to integrate in the community by playing a social role. I want it to be profitable but social oriented, a neighbourhood business. The events could involve children, older people etc. I don't have a large budget so the costs should be as low as possible. What type of business is this? Not knowing specifically, I suggest joining the local Chamber of Commerce and go to all their events. Meet people and socialize.

Rent space at fairs, festivals and events. Bring your product/service and tell people why they need it. Shake hands, introduce yourself, wear your logo, pass out business cards.

Do you have a mission statement? If not, write one, it will help keep you focused and it will let your customers know what you are all about.

Donate your product or service to the community, specifically organizations you would like to buy from you.

Go out all the time, and go to places where you will meet potential customers. Always be ready to promote your business if the opportuniy arises. Be professional at all times to all people you meet.

Try to get asn article published in the newspaper about your business.
If it involves school aged children you can go and speak with schools, preshools, etc. What you do is get permission from them when they are doing events and most of the time they will let you pass out fliers to notify the parents of when it will be and there are a ton of people that show up.
