Well, it's not exactly military, but I think a HUGE political event in 2006 is the change in how Chinese currency (the Yuan, code CNY) is valued. It is no longer pegged to the US Dollar and has risen in value considerably over the last 12 months. Seeing as how around 70% of manufactured goods imported to the US come from China, this has very deep ramifications for big business (and therefore everything else) if the Yuan continues to rise against the dollar, any thoughts?
