Premier Kruschev's "We will bury you" speech, making most Americans fear the worst about Soviet expansionism.
Pres. Kennedy telling Russia to get the nuclear devices out of Cuba or we'll take them out ourselves, and the Russians withdrawing.
America's involvment in Vietnam and Korea
Castro taking over Cuba, giving communism a foothold in our hemisphere.
Ortega's successful coup in Nicaragra, spreading fear of a resurgent communism
Gorbachev's era of Glasnost, or open-ness.
The tearing down of the Berlin Wall
